We offer emotional support to children and families through yoga therapy, yoga classes, talking therapy, short courses and mindfulness.
Our specialist 6 week program offers children age-appropriate general information about cancer and generic treatments. It is aimed at children aged 4-18, who have a significant adult undergoing treatment or diagnosed with cancer and is currently fully funded by National Lottery.
Our vision is to create a supportive community for children and their families, through groups, well-being events and, if appropriate, individual sessions. This creates a safe space to experience life events in an emotionally healthy environment.
We are dedicated to nurturing the well-being of children and families through the transformative practice of yoga and talking therapy. Our approach is holistic, combining physical movement, mindfulness, and therapeutic techniques tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Sunflowers Children’s Yoga Therapy C.I.C (Sunflowers CYT C.I.C) is committed to safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable groups, in all its ventures with children including individual and group yoga classes, individual and group yoga therapy, mental health support (including talking therapy), meditation and mindfulness.
"Sunflowers Yoga transformed my child's life. She is so much more outgoing since she started the sessions."
For over 15 years, I have worked in the NHS as a Child Therapist, dedicating much of my professional life to supporting the children and families of Wirral. During this time, I have also maintained a small private practice. Personally, I love being outdoors, walking in nature with my dog, cold-water swimming, paddleboarding, and practising yoga.
I am qualified in several therapeutic theoretical modalities, including Person-Centred Counselling, Systemic Family Practice (Intermediate), Theraplay (Level 1 and 2), Mindfulness, Children’s Yoga, and Children’s Yoga Therapy. I am also a registered member of the BACP.
I developed the idea for Sunflowers Children’s Yoga Therapy C.I.C following my personal journey through breast cancer. During treatment, I benefited greatly from the emotional, physical, and holistic benefits of yoga.
As an adult cancer patient, I was supported by many wonderful local charities. Upon returning to work as a Child Therapist, I noticed several children whose parent or relative was being treated for cancer were seeking therapeutic support.
After researching the local resources available for these children and finding no dedicated services, Sunflowers Children’s Yoga Therapy C.I.C was born.
Additionally, I spent a month in India studying adult yoga and its philosophy and am now qualified to teach adults.
